Developing an Online Course with the Academic Technology Team

To request support for your online course, please email at@antioch.edu.

From there, you will collaborate with an instructional designer to create an online course from your course materials.  You will provide all the content for the course and will be able to alter or update any aspect of the course at any time.  The instructional designer will lend expertise in learning theory and the nuances of the learning management system's tools to adapt your materials to the online environment.

    • Overview/rhythm of the course
    • Communication guidelines/expectations
    • Rubrics
    • How to get support if needed for any thing needed to complete SLOs
    • etc
  • For each Week/Lesson
    • Overview
    • Student Learning Outcomes
    • Checklist of things to be completed
    • Required and Recommended Readings/Viewings/Resources
    • Required and Recommended Activities
    • Times for any live meeting
    • Images to be used throughout

Request AT support for new online course development preferably four months, but not less than three months before anticipated start of course, including faculty contact information.

Provide access to any existing materials, previous versions, and any relevant student feedback from previous iterations of the course (in-person or online) to the instructor and instructional designer.

Research and locate online content resources.

Determine/create/design course content and activities.

Arrange for access to and/or faculty training on virtual collaboration tools (as needed for course activities).

FINAL COURSE CHECK (FOR ALL ONLINE COURSES - NEW & EXISTING)

Final course design to AT at least four weeks before course begins and notify instructional designer.

Provide feedback to faculty and academic unit head regarding course readiness using the Standards for Antioch Learning Environments.

Approve final course design or determine course revisions needed at least three weeks before course begins and send to faculty and instructional designer.
